Artist Statement:
While commonplace interactions often slip into our subconscious I seek to create new and interesting ways of engaging with the objects we own.
With a passion for hand making I work predominantly in silver and incorporate other tactile materials such as wood and acrylic. Often using multiples and movement I aim to create an exciting, indulgent environment. My work rejects functionless embellishment and seeks to enhance use through minimalist and geometric forms. Designs often have indulgent decadent themes and include items such as high end chocolates or sumptuous candle lighting.
Through a love of aimless play and creativity I have always been drawn to innovative and interactive products. A lifetime of using and appreciating such design has left me wanting to create more. My work calls for people to engage with their inner child, to play and be creative with form.
Why does play need to be left to the children? Why can’t we build something beautiful on our dining table or create new forms with our lighting?
Why can't toys be for adults?
